Explore the North Country Trail

These web pages will take you on an incredible journey across seven states- 4600 miles of foot trail, on the longest National Scenic Trail, the North Country Trail.

This is not intended to be a trail guide, although the information is likely to be helpful to hikers in many places. The primary purpose of Explore the NCT is to provide brief snippets of information about all kinds of things one might see while hiking the trail, and to alert users to interesting features that are within walking or easy driving distance from the trail.

Blue symbols indicate the type of feature, whether pertaining directly to the trail, historical, cultural or environmental. Brown symbols indicate whether the feature is on (or closely surrounding) the trail, slightly off-trail, or within driving distance of around 5, 10, or 25 miles. County overview pages have a brown county map symbol using the state where the county is located. There is also a locator map on individual pages which will indicate the county.
